How to Shoot for a Cooperate Headshot

Corporate headshots are portraits of businessmen and women willing to stand out from the other companies. These portraits are a way of conveying messages through your dressing and image. They also specify your business as either professional or editorial.

Before you get your corporate headshot photoshoot, you should have an idea of how to dress, how your posture should be, and the best impression to give.

You should choose to either have an editorial portrait or a professional portrait.  An editorial portrait, is normally taken at your place of work. While a professional portrait is normally done at a studio, with a neutral background, and some additional lighting.

Professional portraits are used by multicompanies, or their employees when taking photos to attach to their CVs. Before your corporate headshot is taken, you should consider;

  1. Your dressing looks

Your dressing look should reflect your company. Your aim is to deliver a certain image to your customers and sponsors. So, when you are having a corporate portrait choose your dressing as formal.

If you are a man, you can choose to wear a dark blue suit that has bold patterns and colors, along with a good-looking tie. Wearing a suit without a tie is very unprofessional. If you don’t own a tie, wear a jacket or any sweatshirt that is outstanding.

If you are a woman, choose an official office wear dress or a suit. Do not wear any short sleeves, or bright colors and patterns. Have some natural make up looks, and put on some classy jewelry.  Don’t exaggerate your looks by overdoing your makeup and jewelry.

  1. Your posture

When getting a professional portrait, your posture will reflect the type of message you want to convey to the customers or other employees. During the session, do not cross your arms, or put any of your hands in any pocket. Ensure your standing position portrays confidence by keeping your shoulders and back straight.  The photographers can also direct you or position you if you are unable to stand straight up.

  1. Your General Looks

Your general looks include; your hair, make-up, and smile. These three elements of you will reflect your image. Ensure if your hair has not been dyed and has a clean shave. Do not have a corporate portrait with some bad hair. Your make-up and smile should also look neat.
