Air pollution causes adverse effects on lung development and causes the development of diseases such as asthma, emphysema, and other respiratory diseases. Studies show that the construction industry is responsible for 23% of the air pollution. One way to control the pollution is to control the pollution emitted from the construction site. You can employ some odor control solutions from reliable brands like BossTek to improve air quality at your construction site. Here are some of the ways you can provide clean air at your worksite and reduce the air pollution from your site:

Do not burn waste materials

One of the ways the construction site contributes to air pollution is by burning waste materials from the construction activities. Doing so releases poisonous gases such as carbon monoxide into the atmosphere. You also risk being fined by local authorities if found burning hazardous waste materials.

Adopt hybrid technologies for your construction process.

Diggers and excavators used diesel engines which contributed to the pollution of the air. You can opt for hybrid excavators that run on electric power generated from the down-swing of the boom arm. A good example is the Volvo prototype excavator.

Upgrade your existing equipment and use low Sulphur diesel

You can upgrade your construction equipment by using catalyst converters and particulate fillers. To reduce the number of poisonous gases emitted into the air, you can use low Sulphur diesel for your power equipment and vehicles. Depending on the activity, a construction site can have machineries such as bulldozers, breakers, dumpers, and excavators, which are sources of poisonous gases such as carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and nitrogen oxides.

Use water sprays, sprinklers, and an on-tool extraction

Water is an excellent solution for controlling dust and stopping it from spreading. Sprinkling water is vital during breaking down concrete and filling skips. An on-tool extraction can control certain types of clouds of dust. It is a type of exhaust that fits on some tools and helps prevent dust from being produced.

Disposing of construction waste from demolition

Construction waste comprises building waste materials, rubble, and debris resulting from demolition activities, construction, and repair of any civil structures. Most of the garbage cannot be recycled and ends up in landfills. Look for ways to efficiently dispose of the waste without causing air pollution.

Opt for green solutions

Construction sites are notorious for emitting noxious vapors. These vapors come from cleaners, oils, glues, paints, thinners, plastics, and other hazardous chemicals used for construction activities. The harmful vapors contribute to air pollution that can be avoided by opting for greener options. You need to look for products and materials that are environmentally friendly and are designed for a greener, sustainable future. You can have green materials for your roof, wall, and façade.

It is crucial to keep the air on your construction site clean for both the environment and the people who work there. Choose methods of preventing air pollution that fit the nature of your business the best and one that fits your operational budget.
